National Honor Society Inducts Outstanding Students at Princeton High

The annual induction ceremony into the Princeton High School Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) was held on November 1, 2023.  Twelve students were inducted into this special society, recognizing their scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

The induction ceremony serves as a tribute to celebrate the unwavering dedication, hard work, and commitment these students have to make the world a better place. 

Principal Ron Bollmer opened the ceremony with welcoming remarks and acknowledging the distinguished guests in attendance. He turned the program over to the Chapter Officers, allowing it to be student-led.

NHS President Devin Long and Vice President Krista Parks led the ceremony recognizing those selected.  They commended the inductees for accepting new challenges, holding leadership positions, and giving back to the community, all while taking rigorous schedules and excelling academically.  

Jake Culter, the Treasurer of the NHS Chapter, spoke to the audience about Scholarship. Tawhid Alam, the Secretary, addressed the topic of Leadership. Krista Parks presented the importance of Service, and Devin Long concluded by discussing Character prior to having the inductees recite the National Honor Society Pledge.  

The 2023 Fall Inductees are Eli Alanis, Brian Castillo Munguia, Michael Crawford, Zuleica Diaz Marquez, Gabriella Ferrari, Isabella Gilmore, Leslie Lara, Matthew McGuire, Cristian Mendoza Solis, Ferris Rice, Taylor Schaiper, and Mark Whitener

During his keynote address, the superintendent of Princeton High School, G. Elgin Card, lauded the inductees, emphasizing the importance of their contribution to the community. "To be included in the National Honor Society, each of you has contributed in a way that has made a difference to others," he said. "You embody the values of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, which are the cornerstones of this esteemed society.”

Recognizing the significance of student leadership, Superintendent Card also stressed the importance of the student voice at Princeton High. "Student Voice is something that Princeton highly values and your leadership in and outside of the classroom is important," he noted, encouraging the inductees to continue contributing to their school's vibrant community.

Superintendent Card continued his remarks by stating, "Your journey as NHS members begins tonight, and I do not doubt that you will work hard, inspire others along the way, and continue to make a difference in the lives of those you encounter."

In closing, the Chapter Co-Advisors, Sam Shoemaker and Miranda Gress congratulated the students and wished them success in their future endeavors. "Congratulations, and may your future endeavors be as remarkable as your past achievements. Thank you for being the leaders of tomorrow. And as always...Go Vikes!"
