Important Information Technology

Dear Parents and Guardians of  Princeton Elementary Schools,

As we gear up for the summer break, I want to inform you about an important change regarding our device procedures at Princeton City Schools.

In the past, students have had the opportunity to keep their devices over the summer. This procedure has been adjusted for the 2024 summer break for all Kindergarten to 8th grade students.

All devices, including chargers, must be returned to the elementary/ middle school building your child attends by Friday, May 17th. We request your cooperation in ensuring that your child's device is returned promptly by this deadline.

Summer school students will be able to check out their devices during the summer session to support their academic endeavors. Over the break, all devices must be updated, cleaned, and have the necessary software installed. This will ensure smooth operations and optimal functionality for the next academic year.

It's important that we safeguard our resources and ensure equitable access to technology for all students. This change will also allow us to ensure that all devices are in optimal condition for the next academic year, enhancing the learning experience for our students.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to this updated procedure. We value your partnership. Together, we can ensure that our students continue to receive the support and resources they need to thrive academically. Please stay tuned for Princeton Mobile Book Center’s 2024 summer schedule, where you can visit for summer reading materials and access devices.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy change, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in education.

Sincerely,

Chris Lockhart

Dear Princeton Parents and Guardians,

As we prepare for the end of the school year, I want to inform you of an important update regarding the MiFi program that has been instrumental in providing internet access to our students over the past few years.

You may not be aware that the MiFi program was funded through the Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF), a federal initiative designed to support remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This program has allowed us to ensure that all students, regardless of their circumstances, had the necessary internet access to participate in their education effectively.

T-Mobile donated the devices we distributed, and the Wi-Fi access was paid for using the Emergency Connectivity Fund.

Unfortunately, the Emergency Connectivity Fund federal program is set to end in June 2024. As a result, the MiFi devices will no longer be activated after July 2024. If you or your family members currently have the T-Mobile devices distributed to our Princeton students, they will no longer function after the program ends.

You are welcome to return the devices to T-Mobile or Princeton to be recycled.

We understand the critical role of reliable internet access in education and daily life, and we deeply regret any inconvenience or hardship this may cause.  We are exploring alternative solutions to support our students and families during this transition.

Our goal is to minimize the impact of this change and to continue providing the resources necessary for your child's educational success. In the meantime, we encourage you to contact local internet service providers. Many of them offer discounted rates for families with school-aged children.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy change, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of our school district.

Warm regards,

Chris Lockhart
