Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of the school year, we are writing to inform you of a significant change regarding the management of student Chromebooks. This year, unlike previous years, we will require all K-8 students to return their assigned Chromebooks and accompanying chargers to their school by the last week of classes.
Why the Change? This new policy will allow our IT team to perform essential updates, maintenance, and repairs on the devices, ensuring they are in optimal condition for the next academic year. It will also help us manage our inventory more efficiently and prepare for any upcoming technology upgrades.
What You Need to Do:
Check the Device: Please ensure that the Chromebook and charger are in good working condition. Report any damages or issues to the school’s IT department as soon as possible.
Backup Data: Encourage your child to save important files to their school-provided cloud storage or another backup location before returning the device.
Return Date: All Chromebooks and chargers must be returned by May 17, 2024. Specific instructions on the return process will be provided by your child’s school.
Handling Damages or Loss: If the Chromebook or charger is damaged or lost, please report this immediately. There may be a fee to cover the replacement or repair costs, and we can provide more information on handling these situations.
We understand that this change might be an adjustment for our students and families, and we appreciate your cooperation and support in helping us manage our technology resources effectively. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school or the district IT department.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued partnership with our educational community.
Warm regards,
Chris Lockhart
