#PCMSFamily Middle School Creative Writing Contest: Winter Break Edition

Contest Theme: "Winter Adventures"

Objective: Encourage students to express their creativity and imagination through writing during the winter break.

Guidelines:

  1. Eligibility: Open to all middle school students.

  2. Submission Format:

    • Stories must be handwritten.

    • Word count: 500 to 1,500 words.

  3. Deadline: All entries must be submitted by January 10th to the student center.

  4. Originality: Stories must be original works created by the student. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.

Writing Prompts:

  • Write a story about an unexpected winter adventure (e.g., discovering a hidden winter wonderland, meeting a magical creature, or going on a snowboarding trip gone wrong).

  • Describe a character who learns an important lesson during the winter holidays.

  • Imagine a world where winter lasts all year. What would life be like? Tell a story about a typical day in this world.

Judging Criteria:

  • Creativity and originality of the story.

  • Character development and plot structure.

  • Writing style and use of language.

  • Spelling and grammar.

Prizes:

  • 1st Place:  $100

  • 2nd Place: $75

  • 3rd Place $50

  • Honorable Mentions: Certificates for all honorable mentions.

How to Enter:

  • Submit your handwritten story on paper to the student center by January 10th.

  • Make sure to include your name, grade, and contact information.
