What to Expect
All cell phones will receive a text message accompanied by a unique tone and vibration. Radios and televisions will also broadcast a test emergency alert.

The purpose of the October 4th test is to ensure that the systems continue to be effective means of warning the public about emergencies, particularly those on the national level. In the case of widespread severe weather or other significant events, the test may be postponed. The backup testing date is October 11, 2023.
