Saftey Update - December 10, 2023

December 10, 2023

Dear Princeton Families:

On Sunday, December 10th, one of Princeton City School District’s elementary school administrators received an email message from an account that claimed to be a Russian terrorist organization targeting American schools. This was not a credible threat, and the timing of the alleged event passed without any incidents. We can verify that school districts throughout Ohio and nationwide received identical messages.

Several local schools in Ohio and across Texas received a similar threat on Friday, December 8, 2023. Local law enforcement agencies across Ohio and the nation, the FBI, and the Joint Terrorism Task Force have been involved with the investigations.

The FBI is aware of the messages, stating the claims have no credibility, and has called them “clearly hoax threats.”  Law enforcement partners and the FBI recommend proceeding with normal operations. We will continue to work with our local law enforcement officers from each of our communities and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department.

Out of caution, we have and will continue to conduct external door checks and review security camera footage to ensure all of our buildings are secure. There will be increased security around our school buildings tomorrow. This is not because the threats have any credibility but because we know any threat can cause anxiety and concern.

We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate if there are any additional threats or concerns. We are committed to maintaining the highest service and care for our community.

The safety of our students and staff is a top priority. As a reminder to our students, “If you see something, say something.” Thank you for your continued support as we work to keep our schools safe.

Sincerely,

G. Elgin Card

Superintendent
