Princeton High School's Junior Council officers, Jennifer Barrera Mendoza and Isaiah Dudley, are not only exemplary art students, they are also passionate advocates for safety. Recently, they took a significant step towards promoting responsible driving behavior by speaking at a press conference and signing a pledge to wear their seatbelts and encourage others to do the same.

The importance of seat belts cannot be emphasized enough. They are a crucial safety tool that can potentially save lives in the event of a crash. Unrestrained passengers risk not only their own lives but also pose a danger to others in the vehicle by becoming projectiles during a collision. Jennifer and Isaiah's commitment to promoting seat belt usage sets a positive example for their peers and the broader community.

Their dedication to promoting road safety is particularly timely, as the Greater Cincinnati Automobile Dealers Assn. (GCADA) member dealerships, in collaboration with Hamilton County Safe Communities, are gearing up to kick off the annual National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) "Click It or Ticket" campaign for the third consecutive year. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of seat belt usage and enforce compliance through education and enforcement measures.

Hamilton County Safe Communities (HCSC), supported by a traffic safety grant from the Ohio Traffic Safety office/Department of Public Safety, is specifically targeting teen drivers to prioritize wearing seat belts, especially during the summer months when road risks are heightened. Data indicates that the summer season poses increased dangers for young drivers, making it crucial for initiatives like "Click It or Ticket" to promote safe driving habits among this demographic.

Through their active involvement in promoting seat belt safety, Jennifer Barrera Mendoza and Isaiah Dudley are exemplifying leadership and responsibility within the Princeton community. Their efforts serve as a reminder for everyone to buckle up and prioritize safety on the roads, ultimately working towards a safer and more secure driving environment for all.
