5th grade scientists observed decomposers to discover where they prefer to live. Scientists had to make predictions about where the worm would go and why they thought it would go there. Many students were astonished at how quickly their worm went below the black paper or into the damp paper towel. Scientists also discussed how important worms are to an ecosystem.
