The countdown is on!  I wouldn’t be honest if I said we don’t have our eye on the calendar.  The students and staff have spent this first semester working very hard and the upcoming break is definitely on all of our minds.  The iReady Diagnostic is underway.  We completed Math last week and Reading is taking place this week.  This diagnostic is truly about GROWTH.  This is not a pass/fail assessment.  iReady suggests the typical growth at this point in the year should be 50%.  Achieving 50% growth at this point in the year would suggest to us that your child is on track to meet their end-of-the-year growth target.  I am very proud to report many students have already exceeded this target which tells me, hard work IS happening at our school!  For students not yet at the 50% mark for this year, please engage in direct conversation with your child’s teacher to get suggestions on ways you can support your child at home.  Even though computers aren’t coming home, students can log in to iReady on a tablet or computer at home.

Reading Pilot: In response to Ohio’s Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement for students in grades Kindergarten-Grade Five, our district is currently vetting reading programs.  The State of Ohio has mandated that all reading programs must meet the guidelines that have been set forth by the Science of Reading.  Five Sharonville teachers will be piloting various programs and will share their findings with the rest of the district.  A decision will be made by the end of the year with full implementation across the entire school happening in August 2025.  Each pilot will last approximately 8 weeks.  Communication will come home with students who will be a part of the pilot.
