Princeton City Schools Launches New Strategic Plan to Accelerate Student Learning for All

The Princeton City School District is committed to preparing each student to become a lifelong learner and a responsible citizen ready to meet the ever-changing challenges of the future.

With families and community partnerships, we will create innovative teaching and learning opportunities for each student — both inside and outside the traditional classroom.

We will help students develop the knowledge, critical thinking, collaboration skills, and thirst for learning necessary to successfully navigate a culturally diverse and technologically advanced world.

“Our strategic plans are inspired first and foremost by our students,” said G. Elgin Card, superintendent of Princeton City Schools. “Our students have endless potential, and we want to do everything in our power to create a school community where every student is supported on a personal, social, and academic level and is empowered to achieve college, career, and life success.”

The district’s strategic plan sets five priority areas that PCSD is committed to:

  • Academic Excellence

  • Affirmation & Belonging

  • Effective Communication

  • Health & Safety

  • Stewardship

“We are providing learning opportunities that personalize instruction at Princeton City Schools,” added Card. “This action-oriented plan fosters an environment where every student, parent, staff member, and community member is valued, respected, and given opportunities for success.”

The Strategic Plan was developed using a six-step process, driven by community and family involvement and aligned with the district’s vision, mission, and core principles. The plans also follow a student-centered framework, which means student success and wellness are the core of each goal and objective.

“We are grateful to our community for engaging in this process and sharing your insightful and personal input and feedback so that we could identify specific areas for growth,” added Jon Simons, Princeton City Schools’ Board of Education president. “We are excited about how the plans embody our core values, will accelerate student learning for each Princeton student and allow the district to measure and share progress with our community and families.”
