Heritage Hill 1st Graders have been learning about Ruby Bridges this month as we celebrate Black History Month! First grade students can relate to Ruby's important life story, as she was also in first grade when she was one of 6 black children to be the first integrated into a white school in New Orleans in 1960. Her bravery in the face of racism and hate is inspiring.
Ruby, now Ruby Bridges Hall, is married with 4 grown children. She still resides in New Orleans, LA & is the CEO of the Ruby Bridges Foundation, established in 1999 to promote the values of tolerance, respect, and appreciation of all differences.
