NJROTC Events

FUTURE EVENTS (February 2025):

1. The Color Guard team will present the colors at two varsity home basketball games on 4 and 7 February.

2. 42 Cadets will participate in an orientation trip to the Navy ROTC unit at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio on Friday, 7 February.

3. The Joint Leadership Academic Bowl (JLAB) team consisting of Cadets Addyson Sowders, Mason, Lim,  Kayelee Branham, and Jonathan Morris will compete in round 2 of the JLAB competition during the first week of February.  All Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force JROTC units nationwide compete in this event.  The team advanced to the second round with a first score of 80% on 14 November 2024.

4. Cadets Samuel Yeboah and Isiah Hendricks will participate in the Business Breakfast on 6 February.

5. Parent/Teacher conferences on Thursday, 13 February.

6. 25 Princeton Cadets will participate in the nation wide NJROTC National Academic Exam during the last week of February.

COMPLETED EVENTS (January 2025):

1. The Color Guard team will present the colors at the four varsity home basketball games on 3, 7, 17, and 31 January.

2. The Academic team consisting of Cadets Lim, Sowders, Morris, and Branham will compete in the National Joint Leadership Academic Bowl, Level II during the month of January, dates TBD.

COMPLETED EVENTS (December 2024):  

1. The Color Guard team presented the colors at the two varsity home basketball games on Friday, 13 December and Tuesday17 December.

2.  45 Cadets and Senior Chief McDermott participated in an orientation trip to Great Lakes Recruit Training Command and Naval Training Center, Waukegan, Illinois from 3-5 December.

3. 10 cadets comprising varsity and junior varsity teams participated in the Area 14/15 Orienteering Championships at Meadow Ridge Metro Park, Middletown, Ohio on Saturday, 7 December.

4.  Fall  End of course (EOC) testing, 9-13 December.

5.  Semester final exams, 17-20 December.

6.  Holiday/Winter break 23 December-6 January 2025.

COMPLETED EVENTS (November 2024):  

1. The Color Guard team presented the colors at the two varsity football home playoff games on Friday, 1 November (Fairfield) and Friday, 8 November (Hamilton).

2.  The air rifle team consisting of 10 cadets participated in the Area 14/15 Air Rifle Championships at Camp Perry, Port Clinton, Ohio on Friday, 01 November. Cadet Ziyah Walton finished 20th overall.

3.  The orienteering team consisting of 40 cadets participated in the Live Oaks Orienteering Meet at East Fork State Park, Bethel, Ohio on Saturday, 02 November.

4.  Staff Sergeant Lucas, U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) gave a USMC  brief to all cadets on Monday, 4 November.

5. Practice ACT for all juniors was administered on Tuesday, 5 November.

6. The Color Guard team presented the colors at the Princeton High School Veterans Day Program at 1900 in Matthews Auditorium on Wednesday, 6 November.

7. The Third Parent/Teacher Conferences of the year was held from 1500-1900 on Thursday, 7 November.

8. The Color Guard team presented the colors at the Ford Sharonville Plant Veterans Day ceremony on Friday, 8 November and Maple Knoll Retirement Center Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, 11 November.

9.  The Color Guard team presented the colors at Socialville Baptist Church on Sunday, 10 November 2024.

10. Cadets Mason Lim, Addyson Sowders, Jonathan Morris, Ziyah Walton participated in the first round of the JROTC Leadership Academic Bowl (JLAB) on 14 November 2024.  The team scored an 80%, and advanced to the second round in February 2025.

11.The semi-annual Physical Readiness Test (PRT) was administered on 20 and 21 November.  36 Cadets passed the PRT which consists of push up, forearm planks, and one mile run.

12. The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test was administered to approximately 85 Princeton High School students on Tuesday, 19 November in the Aux gym.  POC is Michelle Ritzie.

13. The air rifle team consisting of 12 cadets participated in the Secretary of the Navy Air Rifle Championships conducted here at Princeton High School NLT Friday, 22 November.  Overall results are TBD.

14. 30 cadets and students received an U. S. Naval Academy brief from Midshipman Day (Lakota West HS) and Midshipman Martin (Villa Angela H.S.) on 26 November.

COMPLETED EVENTS (October 2024):  

1. The Color Guard  presented the colors at the varsity football home games, Friday, 4 October versus Oak Hills;  Friday, 11 October versus Fairfield and Friday, 25 October versus Colerain.

2. The Color Guard and the entire unit (115 cadets) participated in the Homecoming parade on Wednesday, 2 October. This was a mandatory event for all NJROTC cadets.

3. Tug-of-War team participated in the Homecoming Pep Rally on Thursday, 3 October. 

4.  Annual Military Inspection (AMI)  practices were on the 16, 17, 18 October in PHS Aux gym.  Final practice and actual AMI was on 22 October in the PCMS main gym.  CDR Michael Robinson, Area 14 manager was the inspector.  Middle School Principal Dr. Dave Mackzum and Principal Dawn Stallard were guests at the Pass in Review (PIR) ceremony.  Thank you goes to all of the parents who were in attendance for the PIR and to Dr. Mackzum who allowed us to use the middle school gym.

5. Second Parent/Teacher Conferences of the year were held on Thursday, 24 October 2024.

6. Six Cadets participated in the Northmont NJROTC Brian Brawl event on Saturday, 26 October.

7. NJROTC Cadet picture day was on Wednesday, 30 October .  There are no make-up days.  Cadet photo price packages are located in Senior Chief McDermott's classroom for cadets to take home. 

COMPLETED EVENTS (September 2024):  

1. The Color Guard presented the colors at the varsity football home games, Friday, 6 September versus Lakota West, and Friday, 20 September versus Mason.

2. 10 Senior Cadets participated in the PHS Senior Night festivities on Friday, 20 September during the home varsity football game.

3. Parent/Teacher conferences were held on 12 September, 3-7 PM.

4. The Color Guard presented the colors at a Disabled Veterans Ceremony at Jake Sweeney automotive/Jeep on 30 September.

5. Cadets Addyson Sowders, Ke'Shaun Carter, Aariya Elliott, Mylie Olden, and Jonathan Morris represented NJROTC and participate in the NJROTC display in support of State of Schools Address. on 25 September.

COMPLETED EVENTS (August 2024):  

1.  The Color Guard presented the colors at the District Opening Day ceremonies at Matthews Auditorium on 8 August.

2.  The Color Guard presented the colors at the first home varsity football game, Friday, 23 August versus Moeller.

3.  Local U.S. Navy recruiter, Petty Officer Mickey, briefed the Corps of Cadets on Monday, 26 August about the opportunities and benefits in joining the U.S. Navy.

4.  Local Ohio National Guard recruiter, Staff Sergeant Edwards, briefed the Corps of Cadets on Wednesday, 28 August about the opportunities and benefits in joining the Ohio National Guard.

5.  The Color Guard will present the colors for the parade and the whole unit will participate in the Lincoln Height Labor Day parade on Saturday, 31 August.

6.  All Cadets were briefed on Sexual Harassment, Bystander Intervention and Suicidal Awareness, 20-21 August.  All three topics are annual mandatory NJROTC training topics.

COMPLETED EVENTS (June/July 2024):  

1.  18 Cadets and 1 instructor (LCDR Brockway) participated in the Area 14/15 Basic Leadership Training (BLT) at National Guard Base, Camp Perry, Port Clinton, Ohio from Monday, 10 June through Friday, 14 June 2024. The following cadets graduated from Camp Perry BLT 2024: Zion Smith, Ke'Shaun Carter, Elihah Ballard, Isaiah Hendricks, Raul Ortiz Sagastume, Tristan Von Stein, Nikolai Barenz, Kno'el Gray, De'niyah Kelley, Kayelee Branham, Sophia Lee, Jirely Cruz Perez, Ashley Diaz Morales, Elizabeth Koger, Kevin De Leon Raymundo, Dallas Sloan, and Benedict Yeboah.   Also senior Cadet Addyson Sowders was an aide at BLT.  All cadets earned 6 ribbons by completing this summer camp: Orienteering, Marksmanship, Drill, Medical, BLT, and academic ribbons.  Congratulations to all who participated!

2.  3 senior cadets (Cadets Barry Anderson, Ke'shaun Carter, and Ronnie Newman) successfully participated and graduated from the Area 14/15 Leadership Academy summer camp at National Guard Base, Camp Atterbury, Edinburgh, Indiana from Friday, 21 June through Friday, 28 June 2024.  All three cadets were awarded their silver aiguillettes. 

3. One instructor (Senior Chief McDermott) participated in the Area 14/15 NJROTC instructor training in-service at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois from Monday, 10 June through Friday, 14 June 2024.

May 2024

1.  The End of Year (EOY) awards ceremony will be conducted in class on Wednesday, 1 May.

2.  The color guard will provide the colors for the following 5 events; Underclassmen awards night, Senior awards night, Top 2 awards night, Baccalaureate, and Graduation at 5/3 arena, University of Cincinnati.

3.  Seniors last day is 10 May.

4.  Final Exams 21-24 May.

5.  Last day of school 24 May.

APRIL 2024

1. The NJROTC End of the Year (EOY) report is due 12 April.

2. The color guard will provide the colors in support of the Cincinnati Reds Baseball game on Sunday, 7 April.

3. 30 cadets will participate in the Area 14 Physical Training Championships at Central Crossing High School on Saturday, 20 April.

4.  National Guard Recruiters will provide a briefing to all cadets on Friday, 12 April.

5.  The semi-annual Physical Readiness Assessment (PFA) will be on Thursday, 18 April with the makeup date of Friday, 19 April. 

6. Prom is 27 April.

7.  Air Force Recruiter wil provide a briefing to all cadets on Tuesday, 30 April.

8.  End of Course (EOC) testing dates throughout April are 4, 10, 16, 17, 18, 23, and 24 April.

MARCH 2024

1. Cadet Addyson Sowders will participate and submit an essay in support of the Sons of the American Revolution Essay Writing Contest, 1 March.

2. Cadets Ziyah Walton and Krista Parks will participate in the Indoor Track State Championships at the Spire in Geneva, Ohio on 1-2 March.

3.  All Juniors will take the ACT on 5 March.

4. Princeton NJROTC will host the Greater Cincinnati Military Ball on Saturday, 16 March 2024 in the PHS cafeteria from 1800-2300 hours. Diamond Oaks and Scarlet Oaks JROTC units were invited and  will participate in this event along with Princeton Navy JROTC.  We anticipate 150 cadets attending this event.

5. End of 3rd quarter is 14 March.

6.  Spring Break 25-29 March.

FEBRUARY 2024

1.  The color guard team will provide the colors in support of two home varsity boys basketball games on 9 and 16 February 2024.

2.  The academic team (consisting of 5 cadets per team, 5 teams) will participate in the NJROTC National Academic exam., 26-29 February.

3.  The Joint Leadership Academic Bowl Team (Cadets Gerald Lester, Mason Lim, Oscar Sandy, and Addyson Sowders) will participate in round two, 1-15 February.  This group successfully graduated from level one back in November 2023. If this team is successful in round two, then this group will participate in person at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. in the National JLAB Championships, June 2024.

4. Parent/Teacher conferences on 1 February.

5. Cadet Addyson Sowders will participate in the Surface Navy Association Essay Writing Contest, 9 February.

January 2024:

1.  Annual Military Inspection (AMI) will be conducted on Thursday, 25 January with Area 14 manager, Commander Michael Robinson, U.S. Navy (Retired).  Spaces utilized during the AMI will be the conference room, Auxiliary Gym, and NJROTC spaces (classrooms, supply and armory).  The uniform inspection event and the Pass-In-Review will be conducted in the Auxiliary Gym.  This is a mandatory participation event for all cadets

2.  AMI Pass-In-Review (PIR) practices will be conducted during 6th and 7th bells on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 22-24 January in the Auxiliary Gym for all 121 cadets.

3.  The color guard team will provide the colors in support of three home varsity basketball games on 9, 19, and 26 January 2024.
