The PHS Art Club has a 4ft x 4ft mural in the Ohio Site Map Exhibition at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
In partnership with the Ohio Art Council, the Art Academy of Cincinnati is
hosting a new visual art exhibition this winter called, The Ohio Site Map Project. The purpose of the exhibition is to feature custom artwork made from K-12 students and teachers across Hamilton County to express their ideas, notions, and representations of home and place in Ohio. This collaborative exhibition will prioritize perspectives and compositions of youth in our community to elevate their values of home and place.
OHIO SITE MAP PROJECT- Princeton High School Art Club
In this collaborative artwork we focused on our Princeton Viking Community as a part of the Greater Cincinnati area. In our school, we have students from 8 or more communities that come together at PHS and the students that go to school here are from 55 different countries. To celebrate unity as a diverse community and as proud Vikings, we used an aerial view map of our school district as the base design for the mural. The colors for the background were inspired by vintage maps to represent our history. The lines are the main roads and highways that pass through our school district. The red dot indicates the location of Princeton High School. The colorful squares began with the idea of representing our diverse households throughout the community, but felt more like confetti as the artwork progressed. The confetti celebrating our diversity is falling onto the Cincinnati skyline.
