SBG Cheat Sheet (for students)

How am I graded this year (22-23)

  • All assessments (summative or formative) are worth 10 points

    • 10 - Mastery

    • 9 - Near Mastery

    • 8 - Proficient

    • 7- Developing

    • 6 - Beginning 

    • 5 - No Evidence of Mastery

    • 0 - Not Attempted

  • Progressbook will reflect:

    • Summative grades weighted 90%

    • Formative grades weighted 10%

  • Lowest grade (attempted) is 5/10 - this includes formative or summative

  • If you do not submit something, it is recorded 0/10 and missing

    • Late summative assignments are allowed

What is considered summative and formative?

Summative - any assignment that assesses class standards

  • Can be a traditional test, project, presentation, etc. that aligns with specific standards of learning

  • Is entered into Progressbook as the standard

  • Larger assessments might be broken into multiple standards and entered separately into Progressbook

  • Can be submitted late as long as they do the following: 

    • Students MUST attempt and COMPLETE the Summative Assessment when given to them in class/assigned in class or submitted on the due date. This MUST be done in order to qualify for a Reassessment.

    • Assessments done near the end of a quarter have extra time

  • Can be reassessed using the universal reassessment form (see below)

Formative - any assignment for learning the class standards

  • Can be any classwork, quizzes, entrance/exit tickets, etc., 

  • Cannot be made up or reassessed

What is the universal reassessment policy?

  • The responsibility of reassessing is on YOU, the student

  • Are allowed to reassess any summative assignment given the following guidelines:

    • All formative assignments are completed

    • The reassessment form is filled out within 7 days of the grade going into Progressbook

      • A parent/guardian signature is required

    • The 2-5 pieces of evidence are completed

    • Reassessments must be completed one week before the end of the quarter

  • Examples of evidence of learning:

    • Complete/redo formative assessments

    • Complete alternative assessment

    • Redo a portion of the assignment 

    • Watch EdPuzzles 

    • Khan Academy

    • Complete additional support assignments (vocabulary.com, conjuguemos, ALEKS, etc.)

    • T/Th intervention time

    • Make corrections

    • Independent research (supply articles/videos/etc, explaining the topic)

    • Professional rubric/approaches to learning rubric 

    • Other intervention plan (student led)

    • **Intervention activities should not be disproportionate to the original assignment

  • Only one reassessment can be in process at a time 

  • Formative assignments cannot be reassessed

  • Midterms and finals cannot be reassessed
