Submit Ohio Student Voice Workgroup Nominates - students sitting around a table, with laptops open, laughing

The Department of Education and Workforce is requesting Ohio Student Voice Workgroup nominations from educators for students to serve on the group. The workgroup consists of student representatives from grades 8-12 in each State Support Team region.

Students will meet virtually and provide feedback and insights on education policy. The Department will support student leadership opportunities by providing sponsorship for a school membership to the Ohio Association of Student Leaders. With a school membership, selected students and schools can take advantage of student leadership programming, resources, and partnerships to further expand student leadership work in their own buildings.

Ohio Student Voice Workgroup Nominations will be accepted through Aug. 31.
All nominators should follow the below next steps for completion:

  1. Identify students who are entering grades 8-12 in the 2024-2025 school year.

  2. Consider students who are not regular participants in school activities. The workgroup should consist of a diverse group of students that span cultural backgrounds, interests, and abilities.

  3. Each school may submit up to three nominations.

  4. Discuss this workgroup with your potential nominees to inform them and confirm their interest.

  5. Once nominees have confirmed interest, please contact the student’s family to get parent permissions.

  6. Complete and submit the nomination forms.
